Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Nuclear Weapons.

Background
 
Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Nuclear Weapons ( Comprehensive Nuclear Test - Ban Trea ty / CTBT ) is a treaty that prohibits any type of nuclear test explosions method . CTBT was opened for signature since September 1996 . To date, 183 countries have signed the CTBT and 159 countries have ratified it . Until now , the CTBT can not be applicable ( entry into force ) for 8 states whose ratifications are required in Annex II has not ratified it .



To support the implementation of the CTBT , has established the Comprehensive Nuclear - Test - Ban Treaty Organization / CTBTO which aims to : 1 ) prepare and effectively implementing the CTBT ; 2 ) prepare the first session of the Conference of States Parties to the CTBT , and 3 ) faces questions about adherence (compliance ) of the CTBT . The Secretariat also serves as a forum for consultation and cooperation among States Parties . Considering that the CTBT has not been true , then any organization is the Preparatory Commission ( PrepCom ) .Applications and data verification technology owned by the CTBTO has entered a new phase since the devastating tsunami in December 2004 in Indonesia. Usefulness of the application of data verification and the technology can be expanded , not only detect the presence of nuclear weapons testing , but also for the purposes of detecting natural disasters .

 
Indonesia's positionIndonesia does not have the desire to develop nuclear weapons and nuclear testing . Therefore , Indonesia supports the international community's efforts to achieve the universality of the CTBT is a testament to the desire of the international community to regulate the use of nuclear weapons and gradually eliminate nuclear weapons as a whole ( total elimination of nuclear weapons ) .In this regard , Indonesia has ratified the CTBT on February 6, 2012 . Ratification is a form of Indonesia's contribution in maintaining world order based on freedom , abiding peace and social justice in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution .Indonesia believes that the CTBT Treaty useful to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons . Although the CTBT was opened a crack to form a trial conducted through computer simulation techniques , but Indonesia believes that this treaty is a compromise most of all the parties concerned and basically still be helpful to strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation regime .
